HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 c1640W
Captain HACKING

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the fact that Departments of State have been reduced in personnel, he will press for a corresponding return of typewriters to the Stationery Department; and whether, in view of the large number of typewriters at present held by the Stationery Department, he will issue orders for surplus machines to be disposed of while the demand is great and prices high?

Mr. BALDWIN

I understand that typewriters are returned to the Stationery Office when not required by Departments. At the present time, however, the Stationery Office have no surplus machines available for sale. Many of the returned machines are required to take the place of hired machines, and others need repairing before they are available for use.
