HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 cc1636-7W
Mr. FORREST

asked the Prime Minister whether any decision has yet been reached with regard to the future ownership of the property held by private Germans in the former German Colonies; and, if so, will he state its nature?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Under the Peace Treaty the Power receiving a mandate for any of the former German Colonies is given the right to retain and liquidate all property rights and interests in that territory belonging at the date of the coming into force of the Treaty to German nationals, and Germany undertakes to compensate her nationals in respect of the sale or retention of such property rights and interests.
