HC Deb 04 December 1919 vol 122 cc616-7W
Mr. C. EDWARDS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that there are many men in the Army in Ireland who joined up in 1916; when these men will be demobilised; and if he is aware that many of them have had no leave for nearly twelve months, notwithstanding having been promised that leave should be given every six months?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The despatch from their present stations of all men who voluntarily enlisted in 1916 will be completed by 1st February, 1920, provided the necessary transport is available. The granting of leave rests with the General Officer Commander-in-Chief, Ireland, who, I am sure, makes the best arrangements possible in the circumstances.
