HC Deb 04 December 1919 vol 122 cc618-9W
Sir PARK GOFF

asked the Financial, Secretary to the War Office whether officers in Mesopotamia are only paid Rs.10 to the £1, and officers of the Indian Army serving there are paid Rs.15 to the £1; and, if so, will he take immediate steps for the former to be paid at the same rate as the latter?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No question of rate of exchange arises in the case of regimental officers in Mesopotamia, as their pay is fixed and issued, in rupees. As regards Staff officers, whose pay is fixed in sterling, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply on Tuesday last to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Fareham.
