HC Deb 04 December 1919 vol 122 c619W
Mr. STANTON

asked the Secretary of State for War if it is possible to grant twelve days' holiday at Christmas and the New Year to soldiers who are still serving in His Majesty's service to celebrate the signing of Peace; and could be arrange that such holidays could be granted by turn to those who could be spared, and that some bonus should be granted to those who could not be granted leave?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No special instructions will be issued by the War Office as to the grant of leave to troops at Christmas and the New Year, the matter being left to the discretion of General Officers Commanding, in accordance with the custom which obtained prior to the War. No bonus can be given in lieu of leave.
