§ Mr. MACQUISTENasked the Secretary for Scotland whether he is aware that 632W there is dissatisfaction in Innerleithen at the site selected for dwellings under the housing scheme; that it is felt that the houses should be distributed more equally in the vicinity of the various places of employment; and that the manse glebe is very favourably situated in that respect; and whether he will have inquiry made why it is not being made available for houses?
§ Mr. MUNROThe Scottish Board of Health have already approved a site in Innerleithen extending to 6½ acres for the accommodation of sixty-nine houses. At this site the local authority propose to acquire a further 7½ acres on which to erect seventy-one additional houses. Another site known as the Glebe site is proposed for the housing of persons employed in that vicinity. Difficulty is being experienced in the acquisition of this site, and the district valuer is now engaged in negotiations. Provided this site can be acquired on reasonable terms, the Board will be prepared to approve it, when application is made to them by the local authority.
