HC Deb 02 December 1919 vol 122 cc257-8W
Major WHELER

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received any resolution from the National Federation of Fruit and Potato Trades Association urging better goods train service for perishable foodstuffs between the principal towns of Great Britain and the food-producing centres; and whether, in view of the wastage of food at present occurring by inefficient railway transport he can make suitable arrangements to give effect to these resolutions submitted to him?

Mr. NEAL

I beg to refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given to similar questions yesterday.

Mr. ROYCE

asked the Minister of Transport whether he proposes the early inauguration of a goods train service for perishable foodstuffs from producing centres, such trains to be run regularly and at such hours as will allow the produce to be delivered and sold in the various markets in a fresh condition and thus avoid the wastage of food that has been caused by railway delays?

Mr. NEAL

I beg to refer the hon. Member to the reply given to similar questions yesterday.
