HC Deb 02 December 1919 vol 122 cc242-3W
Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will consider the possibility of issuing a medal or ribbon to men engaged in minesweeping during the War?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave on the 13th August last on this subject to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Hull Central, to the effect that it is not intended to issue a special medal or ribbon to officers and men engaged in mine-sweeping during the War. They will, however, be eligible for the British War Medal, and the question of granting clasps to that medal for particular services, such as mine-sweeping, is being considered.
