HC Deb 04 April 1919 vol 114 c1554W
Sir H. NIELD

asked the Food Controller what is the approximate number of persons employed at the medical section of the Ministry of Food in Grosvenor Street; what is the weekly cost of maintaining this section; and whether he considers that the limited jurisdiction now exercised in respect of butter and cream extra rations justifies a continuance of this expense?

Mr. McCURDY

The section in question, which is now located at the New County Hall, consists of a part-time medical adviser, two administrative assistants, and fourteen girl clerks. The weekly cost of the section, so far as salaries are concerned, is at present £46 18s. It is hoped to effect a considerable reduction of this expense in the immediate future.
