§ Viscount WOLMERasked the Under-Secretary of State to the Air Ministry whether he is aware that several disabled and demobilised officers who have been employed in the Air Ministry have recently had their services dispensed with, while women are being retained in the Air Ministry at exactly the same work as these officers performed; and whether it is the intention of the Ministry to give preference to civilians over officers who have become disabled during the War?
§ Major-General SEELYI am aware that a number of disabled officers who have been employed in the Air Ministry have recently had their services dispensed with, but women are not being retained in the Air Ministry on exactly the same work as these officers performed. It is not the intention of the Ministry to give preference to civilians over officers who have become disabled through the War, though in filling up the establishment of the Ministry the principles laid down for the Civil Service as a whole must be maintained.
