HC Deb 02 April 1919 vol 114 c1234W
Sir L. HARMSWORTH

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether a discharged and disabled sailor or soldier, who before enlistment was a Customs and Excise officer, is ineligible for reappointment, although physically and mentally capable, unless and until he has received a pension in respect of the disability for which he was discharged from the Service?

Mr. BALDWIN

The general Regulations for the Civil Service provide that the posts of Civil servants who enlisted with the permission of the heads of their Department shall be kept open for them on their discharge from His Majesty's Forces. No condition as to pension has been imposed.
