HC Deb 21 October 1918 vol 110 c443W
Mr. NUGENT

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that a number of Civil clerks employed in the A.A.O., Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin, were employed as subordinate clerks in 1915 at a salary of 47s. per week, including overtime; that the overtime was abolished in January, 1917, and a flat rate of 37s. per week substituted: whether there was a war bonus of 4s. per week granted in December, 1916, and a further war bonus of 4s. in January, 1917, bringing the salary up to 45s. per week; why was an additional war bonus of 6s. per week granted to civilian subordinate clerks from December, 1917, not paid to the above; is he aware that the present rate of pay is 2s. per week less than in 1915, while the cost of living has gone up 100 per cent.?

Mr. FORSTER

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I am making inquiries, and will communicate with the hon. Member in due course.

Mr. DEVLIN

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office when the war bonus granted under Army Council Instruction 1035, of 1918, will be paid to the temporary male clerks employed in the regimental pay office, Dublin?

Mr. FORSTER

The Army Council Instruction quoted is not applicable to employés paid at temporary rates of pay, but the question of some increase to the clerks referred to in the question is receiving consideration.
