§ Mr. HERBERT FISHERThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The matter is receiving my very careful attention and steps are being taken which, I hope, may lead to a settlement.

YOXALLasked the President of the Board of Education if he will state the amount of the Supplementary Grant paid to the Carmarthenshire education 385W authority in respect of the last financial year; the date at which this was paid to the authority; and the additional amount which the authority would have received if the Grant had not been reduced under the provisions of Section 2 (1) of the Regulations under which, the Supplementary Grant was paid?
§ Mr. FISHERThe amount of the Supplementary Grant paid to the Carmarthenshire local education authority in the last financial year was £8,114. Payment was made by an instalment of £5,700 on the 13th September, 1917, and the balance of £2,414 on the 21st March, 1918. The additional amount that would have been payable but for the operations of the maximum limit was £6,872.
