HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1194W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can give any figures showing the relative tonnage losses of British, Allied, and neutrals from mines for a recent period as compared with twelve months ago; and, if not prepared to give figures, whether he can state if the losses from this cause have been considerably reduced?

Dr. MACNAMARA

Cases are not infrequent where it is impossible to say definitely whether a ship has been mined or torpedoed, but it can be stated with certainty that the losses from mines during the last seven months arc very much fewer than during the previous seven months.
