HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 cc1194-5W
Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether his Department utilises the services of the Land Valuation Department of the Inland Revenue in purchases of land by the Admiralty; it so, whether the work is done to the satisfaction of his Department; and whether any charges are made for the work done?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The services of the Land Valuation Department of the Inland Revenue in purchasing land for the Admiralty have been utilised almost from the beginning of the War. The work has been done to the complete satisfaction of the Board. No charges are made, but I may tell my hon. and learned Friend that in the cases of the three National shipyards the arrangement for the occupation and purchase of the areas required has been, and is being, made through the Lands Directorate of the War Office.
