HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1185W
Sir C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether it is open to farmers in every county to grow potatoes upon their scheduled land in preference to spring corn if they prefer to do so; and in that event whether, as the return from potatoes on land now being ploughed is likely greatly to exceed that from spring corn, he will make it clear to war agricultural executive committees that such an option is permitted?

Mr. PROTHERO

Yes, Sir; executive committees were instructed on the 28th ultimo that any occupier who desires to do so should be allowed to grow potatoes on any scheduled land. I am sending the hon. and gallant Member a copy of the circular letter.
