HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1219W
Captain D. HALL

asked the Postmaster-General whether: the authorities propose to close the post office at New church, Isle of Wight, at the beginning of April; and, if so, seeing that this is an isolated place and that already the island towns have had their communication with the main land curtailed to a minimum owing to the doubtless necessary action of the Admiralty in carrying out war measures and precautions, will he reconsider the proposed action?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

Every effort has been made to find a suitable candidate for the vacant appointment of sub-postmaster, but without success. I regret that there is, therefore, no alternative but to close the office for the present.
