HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1205W
Sir G. TOULMIN

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether certain supplies at Stratford-on-Avon wore formerly guarded by two ex-soldiers at 26s. per week each; whether the men are now in any other employment; whether women were substituted, and, if so, how many and at what cost; and whether they had any other duties?

Mr. FORSTER

Watchmen were not found satisfactory, and were replaced by women guards some four months ago. These, in turn, have been replaced by volunteer guards since the 1st March, when all women guards were disbanded.
