HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1202W
26. Mr. GLANVILLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether it is within his authority to place in the Army Reserve W lads who were improperly accepted for service when only sixteen years of age; whether Army Reserve W was created for this purpose; and, if so, under what Act, and why are such lads not discharged until wanted?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I presume my hon. Friend refers to lads who made false statements as to their ages on enlistment, and I cannot admit that, in such circumstances, they were improperly enlisted. Army Reserve Class W was not created for the specific purpose stated in the question, but I know of no reason why these lads should not be transferred, until wanted, to this section of the Army Reserve.
