HC Deb 22 July 1918 vol 108 cc1475-6W
Captain CARR-GOMM

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that, during the hours in which the post office in Exhibition Road; Kensington, is open on Sundays, the clerk who issues stamps declines to sell insurance stamps to applicants; whether this practice is according to Post Office Regulations; and, if so, whether he will reconsider such an Order in view of the fact that many persons are now engaged in work away from their homes on week-days?

Mr. PEASE

No National Health Insurance business of any kind is transacted at post offices on Sundays. The arrangements for Sunday services at post offices are expressly limited to facilities for which there may be urgent demand, and the purchase of insurance stamps cannot, I think, be regarded as falling within this category.
