HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 c930W
Sir H. NIELD

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food! whether, in view of the public anxiety and the many contradictions that are published, he will, in conjunction with the Censor, forbid the publication of any statement with reference to the control of food which is not contained in an official Order of the Ministry, and so prevent the constant misapprehensions caused by unauthorised and misleading statements in the newspapers on the subject?

Mr. CLYNES

It would be difficult, if not impossible, to prevent speculative comments on the policy of the Food Controller, from appearing in the newspapers; but the Publicity Branch of the. Ministry gives every opportunity to the Press of obtaining accurate information on all matters not expressly covered by statutory Orders or official announcements.
