§ Commander BELLAIRSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any information as to what war taxation has been imposed in the Isle of Man?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWSince the outbreak of War the duties on beer and tobacco have been doubled and the following increases made:—
Motor spirit … Nil to 6d. Cocoa … Nil to 1½ Sugar … 1s. 10d. to 9s. 4d. Coffee … 1d. to 3d. Tea … 5d. to 11d. then to 8d. As regards details, reference may be made to the Isle of Man (Customs) Acts, 1916 and 1917. The question of direct taxation is under consideration.
