Mr. NUGENTasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the number of ex-officers of the Civil Service who are now in receipt of pensions of less than £100 per annum; if he is aware that many of these persons, who through age or infirmity are unable to supplement their pensions, are at present placed in difficult circumstances owing to the cost of living; and whether he will consider the advisability of increasing the pensions or granting a war allowance to those whose income does not exceed the figure stated?
