HC Deb 15 November 1917 vol 99 cc596-7W
Colonel FABER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether Royal Field Artillery officers serving with siege batteries of Garrison Artillery do not receive armament pay, the reason given being that they are not shown in the Army List as in the Garrison Artillery; whether if a Field Artilleryman is thus transferred he would lose seniority; and whether a Field Artilleryman doing garrison battery work will receive the pay of that service?

Mr. FORSTER

Regular Royal Field Artillery officers are not transferred to the Royal Garrison Artillery. A few temporary and Special Reserve officers have been transferred, and these lose regimental seniority, but retain Army seniority. A Royal Field Artillery officer serving with the Royal Garrison Artillery does not receive armament pay, which was instituted as a special inducement to officers to join the Royal Garrison Artillery as a career.
