§ Mr. KEATINGasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, under a recent Proclamation, men of the Royal Naval Reserve and Royal Fleet Reserve and officers and men of the Royal Naval Vounteer Reserve are required to continue in actual service for the period of five years from the date of their coming into actual service if their services be so long required; and, if so, whether it applies to men who voluntarily enlisted in either of these units for the period of the War and to men of the Royal Naval Air Service who so enlisted?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAI would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on the 9th August to my hon. Friend the Member for Dartford, in which I stated that it was not the intention to use the power given under the Royal Proclamation of the 17th July last to extend the services of these men beyond the period covered by the expression "the duration of the War." The Proclamation does not apply to men of the Royal Naval Air Service entered for the period of the War, but it does apply to all the Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Fleet Reserve, and the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
