§ Mr. SNOWDENasked the Under Home Secretary whether, in view of the need of men for the land to increase the food supply, he will take immediate steps to allow conscientious objectors working under the Home Office scheme, who have knowledge of agriculture, to go on farm work?
§ Mr. BRACEThe Committee on the Employment of Conscientious Objectors recently arranged with the Board of Agriculture for the issue of a circular to all War Agricultural Committees, explaining the conditions under which men could be sent out for employment in agriculture, but farmers appear to be unwilling to employ conscientious objectors, and very few requests for these men have been received by the Committee. The Committee have, however, taken over Dartmoor Prison as a work centre, and a large number of men will be employed there on farm work and in the reclamation of land.
