HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 92 c45W
Mr. STEWART

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether a Territorial officer who held the rank of lieutenant-colonel before the War is still junior to all lieutenant-colonels in the Regular Army, whereas a Territorial officer promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel since January, 1915, now carries the same precedence as Regular officers; and, if so, will steps be taken to terminate this difference?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The date from which Territorial Force officers get the same precedence as Regular officers is 5th August, 1914. Prior to this date all Territorial Force officers were junior to all Regulars of the same rank, and it is not considered desirable to reverse this precedence.
