HC Deb 14 March 1917 vol 91 c1106W
Mr. P. MEEHAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that 73,914 cwts. of rice have been exported to Holland from the ports of London and Liverpool for the period from the 1st January, 1917, to the 10th February, 1917; and whether, having regard to the importance of retaining food supplies for the use of the United Kingdom and Ireland, it is intended to prohibit the further exportation of rice?

Captain Viscount WOLMER

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, but the larger portion of goods referred to was consigned to the Belgian Relief Commission. The answer to the second part of the question is also in the affirmative.
