HC Deb 14 March 1917 vol 91 c1106W
Mr. G. LAMBERT

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food if he is aware that sows and young pigs are being slaughtered owing to the prices of pig food; and whether steps are being taken to reduce the cost of meals and other essentials for pig feeding?

Captain BATHURST

Statements to the effect mentioned by the right hon. Gentleman have reached the Ministry of Food, but I have no means of testing their accuracy. The price of milling offals appears recently to have fallen substantially, and steps are being taken which may result in a further reduction in their prices and in that of meals; but it must be-recognised by pig owners that there will be less food of this character available for the feeding of live stock.
