HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 cc1353-4W
Commander WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonics whether the scheme for the settlement of officers I and soldiers on the land in British East Africa is yet completed; and whether he is taking any steps yet to extend the scheme to what was lately German East Africa?

Mr. LONG

The Governor of the East Africa Protectorate has been authorised to appoint a local Commission, including unofficial representatives, to consider the proposals which have been made for the settlement of ex-service men on the land. The Commission's Report has not yet reached me. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
