HC Deb 15 February 1917 vol 90 cc823-4W
Commander WEDGWOOD

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the use being made of school gardens in Germany, he will supplement Circular 979 by a further circular definitely urging local authorities to provide school gardens where there are none, to increase them in size where they have been started, and to report on what steps they are taking to meet the wishes of His Majesty's Government, as indicated in the circular?

Mr. H. LEWIS

My right hon. Friend thinks the hon. Member may feel satisfied that local education authorities are fully alive to the importance of the matter to which he refers, and there does not seem to him sufficient reason at present for the issue of a further circular. The matter, however, will not be overlooked.
