HC Deb 15 February 1917 vol 90 cc811-2W
Mr. G. TERRELL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he can see his way to release Corporal Anstee, No. 2338, 1st Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Yeomanry, from further service with the Colours, in order that he may return to the relief of his father, who is an invalid, in the management of Castle Farm, Chippenham, 270 acres, and Stanton Farm, Chippenham, 400 acres; and whether he is aware that, in the event of his being unable to do so, there will be no alternative but to sell the' stock and give up one of the farms?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Corporal Anstee was given leave from his unit for a considerable portion of last year during the serious illness of his father. His father is now reported to be capable of managing his business affairs, and it is understood that there is a manager at the Castle Farm. I regret, therefore, that Corporal Anstee cannot be released.
