HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 c286W
Mr. MILLAR

asked the hon. Member for Wilton, as representing the Food Controller, what is the extent of the saving in barley, sugar, and grits represented by the proposed reduction of the output of beer by 50 per cent, of the pre-war output?

Captain BATHURST

Assuming that the materials in the reduced output of 50 per cent, are used in the same proportions as in the pre-war output, the saving of materials, as compared with the amounts used in the year ended 30th September, 1914, may be estimated as follows:—

tons.
Barley 650,000
Sugar 52,000
Grits 39,000
