§ Mr. O'LEARYasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether having regard to the large amount of land ploughed up in West Cork and the scarcity of fertilising manures, he will urge on the Department 2239W of Agriculture and the Congested Districts Board the advisability of supplying a steam dredger to raise coralline sand in Bantry Bay and Dunmanus Bay, and thus provide the farmers in the locality with an adequate supply of a cheap and fertilising manure?
§ Mr. DUKEThe Department of Agriculture are of opinion that the sand referred to is useful as a manure, but they consider that the tendency has been to use it to too great extent in some quarters. They are not aware of any necessity for increasing the supply in West Cork. Should this be found necessary, arrangements may be made for utilisation of the Department's dredger.
