HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 c1868W
Mr. JOWETT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can see his way to raise the allowance for billeting at present granted to men of the Army Pay Corps from the sum of 2s. 6d. per day to at least 3s. per day, having regard to the impossibility of obtaining lodging with full subsistence in London or any other town under decent conditions for 2s. 6d. per day, and more especially in London where rents are higher and food is dearer than elsewhere?

Mr. FORSTER

The hon. Member is presumably referring to the lodging and ration allowances. I regret I can only answer his question in the negative.
