HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 cc1863-4W
Sir WALTER ESSEX

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War what are the Army horse rations in France and Mesopotamia, respectively; and in what proportions in each does bran enter?

Mr. FORSTER

I will send my hon. Friend copies of the orders containing the rations. In France bran is issued to animals in accordance with the recommendations of veterinary officers at the rate of 1⅛lb. of bran in substitution for 11b. of oats. In Mesopotamia active operations are in progress and the ration cannot be stated exactly, as it depends on local resources.
