HC Deb 02 April 1917 vol 92 c954W
Mr. CROOKS

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether a soldier billeted at home receives less in respect of ration allowance than a soldier billeted elsewhere; if so, can he state the reason for this differentiation and the amount actually allowed; and whether he will consider the possibility of increasing the allowance in view of the present prices?

Mr. FORSTER

A soldier who is billeted receives certain specified meals, for provision of which the householder is paid 2s. a day. A soldier at his own home is not billeted, but his wife receives a special rate of family allowance depending on the number of children. I will send my right hon. Friend a table of these allowances, and I think he will see that they are not inadequate.
