§ Mr. LOUGHasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the interests of the Sugar Commission, the Censor has suppressed an advertisement of a firm of tea distributors, explaining the difficulty caused by their being unable to supply sugar; if so, on what ground was this done; and whether, having regard to the difficulties which are now being caused in all parts of the country by the maintenance of the monopoly, he is prepared to consider the question of permitting the free import and distribution of sugar, with any necessary restrictions as to the place of origin?
§ Mr. McKENNANo, Sir. Any action that is taken by the censorship authorities is taken in the interests of the public and not of a particular Department. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise. The answer to the third part of the question is in the negative.
