§ Mr. RUPERT GWYNNEasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that men over the age of forty-one who voluntarily joined the Royal Field Artillery at the invitation of the military authorities on the understanding that they were specially required have been transferred to ordinary Infantry regiments; and whether there are any cases in which their places have been taken by conscripts?
§ Mr. FORSTERIn a few cases men coming within my hon. Friend's description have been transferred to Infantry for various reasons, but it would be impossible to trace these cases unless my hon. Friend gave some information as to any particular case in which he w is interested. If such a man were transferred, his place would be taken by another man who might, be what my hon. Friend rails "Conscript" or a recruit enlisted under the Derby Scheme, or a man enlisted previously to the institution of the Derby Scheme.
