HC Deb 21 November 1916 vol 87 c1238W
Mr. HANCOCK

asked the Home Secretary whether he can state the total number of fatal accidents for each month in munition works during the period such works have been in existence?

Mr. SAMUEL

There would be great difficulty in giving the particulars asked for, as munitions work includes many different kinds of work carried on in a large number of factories, and frequently carried on along with private work. Many of the factories, moreover, were engaged in munitions work long before the War. Perhaps it would meet the wishes of my hon. Friend if I give him the figures for the metal engineering and explosives industries for each of the last twelve months, and I shall be happy to send him these.
