Mr. McKINNON WOODThe terms of reference of the Committee which dealt with claims arising out of the bombardment of Scarborough and the Hartlepools on 16th December, 1914, were as follows
To investigate the damage to persona and property sustained in the recent bombardment of the Hartlepools, Scarborough and Whitby by German warships, with a view to affording relief from Imperial Funds to the persons affected.Payments were made during the summer and autumn of 1915, and deductions were made in numerous cases by the Treasury in respect of sums received from other sources.
