§ Mr. GLANVILLEasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that coals are being sold in cwts., halves, and quarters at 2s. 4d. per cwt. in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe; and will he, by Order in Council, fix a minimum price below 2s. 4d. per cwt., having regard to the fact that coal is a necessary of life and that high prices will create exceptional hardship amongst the poorest of the population in the forthcoming winter, especially in those districts where casual labour is very general?
§ Mr. PRETYMANI do not think the price mentioned can be justified, and if my hon. Friend will furnish me with any particulars he may have, I will refer the case to the London Merchants' Retail Coal Prices Committee.
