HC Deb 09 November 1916 vol 87 cc430-1W
Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been called to the refusal of the local tribunal at Largs to grant exemption on the ground that serious hardship would ensue it a man were called up for Army service owing to the fact that the man is the sole proprietor of a business on which the support of his family exclusively or mainly depends, and that it is impossible for him to make arrangements for the carrying on of the business in his absence; and whether he has taken steps to call the attention of the tribunal to the terms of the Act and of the instructions to tribunals?

Mr. TENNANT

I am informed that the local tribunal have considered and decided each case of the kind referred to on its merits with special regard to the ground mentioned by my hon. Friend and to the terms of the Acts and Regulations which were before them in ordinary course.
