HC Deb 09 March 1916 vol 80 c1737W
Mr. ROWLAND BARRAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will state the position of a non-commissioned officer of a Territorial battery who has served four years and twelve months additional; can he remain with his battery for the period of the War only, can he serve for three years or the period of the War in the New Army, or must he either join for another four years or retire and return home?

Mr. TENNANT

A non-commissioned officer who is time-expired can re-engage for four years or the period of the War. This means that if the War ends before the expiration of the four years he is free to go.
