HC Deb 09 March 1916 vol 80 c1730W
Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he will explain why ten houses adjoining 129, Washway Road, Sale, near Manchester, each received ten copies of the circular entitled "An Outline of the Military Service Act," seeing that the proceedings under the Registration Act showed that there were in these ten houses only two persons eligible to serve?

Mr. TENNANT

I am not aware of the circumstances mentioned by my hon. Friend. The distribution of the circular was undertaken by voluntary workers and, if the facts are as stated by the hon. Member, it would appear that in this particular case the worker did his business indifferently. The circumstance seems hardly worthy of the attention of the Imperial Parliament.
