asked the Prime Minister if he can give the approximate number of non-combatants, men, women, and children, who have been either killed or drowned by the enemy since the commencement of the War?

The number of non-combatants who have lost their lives on British merchant vessels and fishing vessels by enemy action between the 4th August, 1914, and the 8th March, 1916, is approximately 2,750, but the figures for men, women and children are not available.
