HC Deb 02 March 1916 vol 80 c1220W
Mr. STUART-WORTLEY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether there is any objection now to giving the names of the two battalions of the 11th Division mentioned in General Sir Ian Hamilton's dispatch of 11th December, 1915 ("Times," 7th January, 1916, page 21, column 2), as not specified by the corps commander, but as having at a moment when things were looking dangerous in the attack on Anafarta Ridge, on 10th August, 1915, rendered very good service on the left of the Territorials; and whether these two battalions were, in fact, the 6th York and Lancaster Regiment and the 8th West Riding?

Mr. TENNANT

The two battalions were, in fact, the 6th (Service) Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, and the 8th (Service) Battalion, West Riding Regiment.
