HC Deb 21 August 1916 vol 85 cc2295-6W
Mr. T. WILSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he has received a complaint against the firm of Sadgrove of violation of the Fair-Wage's Clause in not recognising an increase in the district rate for french polishers; whether he is aware that this increased rate has been accepted as established by the Ministry of Munitions and the Office of Works; and whether he will expedite the settlement of this complaint in harmony with the policy of other Departments?

Mr. FORSTER

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the affirmative. In reply to the third part, there is a dispute between Messrs. Sadgrove and Company and the London French Polishers' Joint Committee as to the date on which the former were notified of the increase in the standard rate of wages, but every effort is being made to expedite a settlement.
