§ Mr. FERENSasked the Under-Secretary for India (1) whether the education authorities of the provincial Governments have taken any action in regard to temperance teaching in schools, as suggested in paragraph 8 of the dispatch of the Secretary of State for India dated 29th May, 1914; and, if so, what; and (2) whether the provincial Governments have considered the feasibility of taking any action in reference to the provision of counter attractions to intemperance, as suggested in paragraph 6 of Circular Letter, No. 1766–1783–81 (Excise), of the Secretary to the Government of India, dated Simla, 18th March, 1914; and
whether he can give particulars of any measures which have been taken in this connection?
Mr. ROBERTSI have at present no information as to the action taken by local Governments in India on the subjects mentioned in this and the following question. I will inform my right hon. Friend if I receive particulars.
