HC Deb 15 March 1915 vol 70 cc1777-8W
Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the Commissioner of Police has issued new regulations with regard to fire extinguishers on motor-cabs; and whether, having regard to the small number of fires occurring on such vehicles, he will refrain from throwing additional expense on cab proprietors during the present period of depression, especially as they have stocks of extincteurs in hand which have been proved to be effective?

Mr. McKENNA

The Commissioner of Police is advised that certain types of extinguisher are dangerous to use, and it has become necessary to direct their deplacement; but those already fitted are allowed to remain for three years unless sooner worn out. It appears, therefore, that no additional expense is at present being-placed upon proprietors.
